The Pymble students are on holidays and will row on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 7.15am for the next two weeks. Please make room for them.

Head of the Yarra

from Tim Byrne

The Head of the Yarra is fast approaching us for another year (the race is on the 24th of November) so it is time for us to get organised. Please make sure that you have submitted your entries to by the 15th of October. We are trying to make sure we get very organised this year so no Leichhardt crews miss out and we can hire/borrow equipment if required.

The Yarra Yarra rowing club have invited us to a joint celebration after the race once again this year, so could you please indicate which of your crew plans to attend the dinner for the purposes of Yarra Yarra’s catering when you submit your entry.

The fees for this year will be $120/seat which will cover your entry fee, a commemorative t-shirt and dinner at Yarra Yarra after the race. We’d like to see one payment made for each crew through the LRC Shop accompanying each entry – we won’t be submitting your crew’s entry unless we have received the full crew payment.

Steering on the Lowrey

from Tim Byrne

For some reason, the steering cable of the pair/double the Mick Lowrey has been removed, which makes the boat pretty tough to steer for most of the rowers in the club. I would like to know who did this and why – not because I want to punish those responsible but more for my own education really, because I don’t understand the logic behind removing the steering from a boat. I promise I won’t bite, but if you are responsible for removing the steering then please drop me a line at

Whilst I am sure that there is a perfectly logical explanation in this case – in future could anyone planning such a radical renovation to any of the boats in the shed please consult with Bob Kelsall prior to commencing surgery (Bob’s email is Bob doesn’t bite either.
