Vale Tina Owen
We are very sad to note the passing of Tina Owen, just after Christmas on the 27th. Tina was a well loved member of the club and will be missed by her buddies.
Her sons sent this email:
Sadly Tina passed away 27th Dec around 10:15am. She died as she wished, surrounded by family (including Plume!) and peacefully. We had one last Christmas together. Even in the last few weeks mum devoured a number of books – reading to the end (her true passion).
Mum would want you all to think not of the last year or cancer or sadness but of previous adventures you had with her – she led a full life with friends around the world. Skiing, partying, reading, travelling… drinking. Many people who receive this email we have never met but many we have heard about (though some stories were hard to believe – I still maintain you can’t sleep on the back of a motorcycle). Many of you represent different parts of her life but they combine to paint an amazing picture.
Feel free to pass this message on to anyone you feel would like to read it and reflect on times they spent with Tina.
We will be in contact again with plans for a get together in Sydney and a chance to share some of the great stories. You can reach me via email if you want to share any in the short term: firstname.lastname@example.org
In a week or so we will commence painting inside the club. Before the painters come in we will need a fast working bee to remove all of the pictures from the walls and store them safely so that they can be replaced on the nice clean new walls. Watch this space for notification of the Flash-bee.
Don’t stop your boat in the middle of the track taken by other boats who are training, doing pieces up and down the bay. Please pull off to one side of the main track and keep an eye out for approaching rowers. Don’t yell at them to stop. Move out of the way so they don’t have to… 🙂
As the competitive part of the season swings into full gear consider a visit to the LRC Shop online to stock up on zooties, training shorts and tops, polos, tracksuits and for the more sartorially splendid, ties, scarves and blazers. If sizes or style are not available, please go to the Regatta Shop for the official Club gear.
The junior camp is one week before and the 1st trailer will leave on Friday next week (6th January). The 2nd trailer will leave the week after (Friday 13th) very early in the morning for the races in the afternoon.
Please check Facebook for details on dinner and venue. And hopefully your entries are all in!
Matt will do the allocation – if you have a specific boat you want, please let him know.
