Captain’s Log

Boat Rally

Another fun day had by all participants last Sunday. A big thanks to Doreen for catering, Rex and Pete for BBQ, Paul for time keeping and Steve Roll for life saving.
The old hand Sam Wayland Senior led his Yellow crew to victory once again. No more discussion will be entered into with crew’s solicitors wishing to argue the rules or answers.

JB Sharp

UTS JB Sharp this Sunday. If interested be at the club by 8am to get ready. First crews push off at 8.30am. Simon and I will be present to help organise crews. All ages welcome. This is a great event to learn to race. We will be combining the Winter program rowers with LRC members. All will be racing under the Leichhardt banner and so must be in LRC zooties.
Recreational and non competing members please keep well clear of course.

Dark Mornings

This week we had 2 boat accidents. Both ran into things they could not see because it was too dark to see. Both were stationary. When it is very dark only row where you are familiar, go slow if unsure and check your lights.

Winter Holiday Program for Juniors

It is on from Monday 29th on June to 3rd July – 9am to 11.30am (be at club earlier to get tinnies and boats ready). Steve Roll is in charge of the program assisted by some of our young coaches. All attendees must have confirmed a place to me at captain@rc.com.au beforehand. No random shows please.

Wanted cox/coach for a recreational crew which is doing HOTY as the final race. We will be doing some races before then and plan to train on Wednesdays but our regular coach (Steve Jacques) and our cox (Eddie) can’t make it on Wednesdays.
Our first Wednesday training session will be 22 July. Please contact Trevor Sills (sillsfamily@optusnet.com.au) or Maddie Borrey (madeleine.borrey@gmail.com)

Help Wanted

  1. To sweep dust and leaves off the ground floor of club – anytime, get a few mates or your crew together for 30 minutes.
  2. Fridge Downstairs – someone left 4 x 2ltr milks in there 8 weeks ago. They exploded! I have removed the dead articles but the remains needs a gallant member to clean the base.

Private rack applications must be submitted ASAP and no later than Friday 3rd of July – or you will lose your rack space.
Do so online and pay the fees. If unsuccessful, the fees will be refunded to you promptly.

Private Equipment

All members with private equipment are asked to clearly label each piece with their name. This does not mean a coloured ribbon or tape. We have a labeller in the office if needed. Black marker pen is fine as well.
