Leichhardt Presentation Night
A terrific roll up saw our best and most improved athletes presented with trophies for the 2015 season.
Details of winners and photos on Facebook.
A big thanks from all to Glen Young for doing the catering. He was once again so popular that we ate everything he could provide, and more.
NSW Presentation Night at UTS
At the NSW Presentation night last Tuesday we collected the Bohemia Trophy and let St George “borrow” the Overall Point Score Trophy for the next few months. I will leave the hook on the wall waiting for its return next season.
School Holiday Program for Juniors
There will be a technique training program open to all club juniors between Monday June 29th and Friday July 3rd: 9.30 to 11.30am.
Coached by Steve Roll and Sara Sherman. Over 12 have already booked in. You must confirm by email to me firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to attend.
Private Rack Space
The committee will shortly be reviewing fees along with rack storage rates for private boats for the new season. In the mean time individuals wanting to apply for a rack for the coming season should go onto our website to read the conditions and complete the application form. Fees are due upon lodgement. Should the rate change you will be contacted to tender the balance. If your application is not approved you will receive a full refund. Space is limited and we have a waiting list from the previous season.
All coaches have been asked by me to supervise every boat they see going onto the water to make sure they have the correct lighting and that the batteries are strong enough. There are no excuses or exceptions. No lights means no row. If you have a problem with this rule call me, don’t have a go at the coaches. Remember the Battery Bin in the office – 3 for $1.
Corporate Regatta and Learn To Row
We are only 6 weeks away from seeing the crews down at the club. I still need more volunteers to coach crews. Please let me know this week. It is a very rewarding experience and only goes for 8 sessions over the month of August.
Pymble returns to the shed on the weekends from August. Please make them feel welcome and share the space. I will be returning 2 eight racks for their use at this time. You may have also noticed that the oar storage rack that Leichhardt used last season for its good sculls is now for Pymble’s use. See the map is unsure and always put things back in the correct labelled spot.
JB Sharp Glebe
We got some great results at last weeks JB sharp regatta last Sunday. They are held every 2 weeks and the remaining 4 are all on Iron Cove. They are a good way for novice to intermediate rowers to get some experience. Get a crew together and let me know if keen. There is no cost involved but you must be a registered member of Rowing NSW and race in our Zootie.
Be at the Club by 6.30am this Sunday ready to get into a mixed and navigate around the harbour. Cost is $20 which covers prizes and brunch afterwards. No notice required, just come on down. Getting coached by Steve Roll: Some reminders
If you want Steve Roll to have a look at you whilst you are out, remember the following:
1) Put a bow number on your boat.
(2) Put your name and the time on the white board at the bottom of the stairs.
(3) Bring to his attention that you have a bow number, that your name is on the board, and that you are getting on the water.
(4) If you are going down to UTS or near to the Iron Cove Bridge, then look out for the flashing strobe light on his boat along the way.
(5) It will help him considerably if any crews/scullers who go out in the dark wear white or light coloured tops.
Black tops in the dark are impossible for me to see.
Keep to the correct side of the bay
We had a collision between two boats during the week. Do not row in the middle of the bay.
We have sound!
The PA system, radio and ‘new’ CD player are all working well again. Thanks Matt.
