Thoughts for the week from the Property Manager

Matt Bourke

When putting the boats on trestles, ensure that the gunwales are connected to trestles. DO NOT rest boats on the canvas as this is the weakest part of the boat, or on the steering or you will not go straight the next time. Arrows are about to be put on boats showing the location of boats on racks so we don’t keep putting them in the wrong spot. They will be red just under the gunwales.

When using boats with backstays USE a spanner to move the backstays. The backstays should not be loose when on shelves or even worse on the water. You should never just pull the back stays if they are spanner tightened, or it will come off in your hand and you will be buying a new backstay.
Over the weekend, I will put a rigger jigger on a magnet on each rigger holder that has back stays so that we will all start to use them.

Remember the working bee this Sunday @ 9am. If your squad is not represented you will be given a job that needs to be completed by the following Sunday LRC regatta.
Get your crew together and come down to the shed for a row followed by some boat maintenance and general tidy up around the shed.
