One for the girls

Head of the Yarra (HOTY) this Saturday

Good luck to all the rowers participating in this Saturday’s HOTY.

All being well the two trailers will be on location in Melbourne before the race. Six eights are going down on the LRC trailer and should be there by 3pm Thursday. Our 7th eight is travelling on the Pymble trailer with two of theirs and one from Balmain. It will be arriving before lunch on Friday.

Remember we have to collect our crew numbers and t-shirts from Hawthorn RC on the Friday. Weather forecast – light early shower and 11 min-19 max degrees, low wind… Bring it on!

You can still book for the Saturday night dinner on line through the Yarra Yarra RC website shop, at yyrc.com.au.

Christmas gift donation for Christmas party

Every Club Member is asked to donate one mystery wrapped gift to help make the Christmas Party 2013 a great success. Please put in Santa’s Sack in the office over the next few weeks.

Please buy your tickets NOW so we can plan the event on Saturday 21 December. See Sophie, Heidi, Angela, Alex, Peter, Paul or Steven.

Slings and Racks

Slings still seem to be a rower’s worst enemy. Take care when placing boats down. We are still getting lots of puncture marks in the hulls.

We are also getting marks from the trailer. Make sure enough helpers are around when placing boats. Do not over tighten the ties, especially on the sculls.

Boat Allocations

Capt Duff has attempted to plan the boating needs 2 weeks ahead. These rosters are now on the LRC website. He will not be updating the bookings while in Melbourne. There will be only one rigged eight left in the shed for any recreational rowers coming down on the weekend. After that they will have to use GREEN DOT quads or fours.

Put your boats back on the allocated rack

Make sure you return the boat to the rack you got it from. Don’t just use the one that is handy. Putting a boat back on the wrong rack can make it very difficult for the crew who follows you.

Premiership Points Update

LRC is still on top of the ladder! Well done to all who have won and placed, and especially the under 16 and 17 juniors who have racked up a whopping 107 points so far!

Great job by Lauren Lyon winning her WN1x race @ the Nepean last Sunday.
