This Week @ LRC - 24 January 2014

Vice Captain Guy Elron reports:

Boat anchored unexpectedly in Iron Cove
This week a large motor cruiser has been anchored just past the red marker point on the way to the Iron Cove Bridge. LRC members have been involved in three separate incidents with this vessel. Two boats have been seriously damaged, and an oar broken. Further, the master of that vessel was abusive to club members on two occasions.

While it is most unfortunate that these incidents have occurred, we are advised by Maritime that boats may drop anchor anywhere around the harbour. Yes, even inside Iron Cove. So, please take care and check as you go - you never know what's been parked in the middle of the rowing channel. See "It takes 2 to have an accident."

Recreational Rowing helpers

Helpers for recreational rowing:
Saturday (25 January) - Rex Chadwick and Brigitte Hadley;
Sunday (26 January) - David Ross and Rosa Brown

Despite some members of the club competing at the Small Boats regatta at SIRC next weekend, recreational rowing will take place.
Next weekend's helpers are:
Saturday (1st February) - David Rosenfeld and Mary Finegan
Sunday (2nd February) - Richard Coleman and Deanna Fekete

Thank you again to those of you who've helped out to date.

Trailer Drivers Wanted
We're looking for those of you, including Juniors' parents, who may be able to help out with towing the LRC boat trailer(s) to and from regattas at SIRC (Sydney International Regatta Centre).

If you have a large vehicle capable of towing a large boat trailer, have experience towing trailers, and are available to help out, please get in touch with Guy Elron, who is putting together a roster of helpers (in addition to Justin Milne, and Andrew Morrell, who have already put their hands up. Thanks!

Guy Elron

"It takes 2 to have an accident"
