This Week @ LRC - 18 December 2015

Christmas at LRC

The LRC Christmas Party is this Saturday, 19 December, and is great opportunity to get together with your crew and the rest of the club to celebrate the year that was and to share the holiday spirit.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children and can be bought on the LRC website through the LRC Shop or at the door on the night.

The price of the ticket covers all food and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for the meagre sum of $1. All you need to bring is any alcoholic beverages you will consume.

Families of all shapes and sizes are welcome, particularly anyone who is brave enough to bring their kids, after all Christmas is mainly for them. There will be fun for everyone with prizes for the ‘Best Dressed’ as well as team games and snail races!

We request that every member bring along a wrapped gift of any description to go under the tree. If it for a young child please write BOY or GIRL on it. We are not after valuable things, just the thought. Please help. Donations can be left on the table in the office or under the tree.

Santa Sprint

The annual Santa Sprint is on again this year and crews will be heading out from LRC early on Christmas morning. The ‘Sprint’ is from the Opera House to the Harbour Bridge.

All are welcome and crew will be made up on the day, typically 8s but there could be a few 4-/+ or 4x. Boats will be escorted by tinnies.

This is the only time that Maritime permits rowing under the Bridge so a great opportunity for a unique experience with not only your crew mates by the Sydney rowing community.

If you want to participate:

• Put your name on one of the sign-up sheets at the Club

• Be at the shed ready to row at 5:45am Christmas morning – we must be at the Bridge by 6:30am

Boats should be back at the sheds by 8:15.

Taree

Please get you entries with your coach or coordinator this week.

With the holiday period upon us there is limited opportunity to organise entries for Taree while everyone is still around and we would like to avoid chaos in the week leading up to Taree.

Hopefully, you already have organised accommodation for the days of the regatta.

PLC Christmas Rowing

PLC rowers are currently taking a bit of break until 8 Jan – there will be a few girls around training but not the large squads.

From 8 January PLC will be running trials for their squads and running learn to row programs.
Full training will commence again 27 Jan and will run through until 5 March and will again be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and all afternoons. We will remind you again closer to these dates. Please remember to work with PLC to manage pontoon congestion and make sure everyone is able to get on and off the water with minimal fuss.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

And finally – happy and safe holidays to all! It has been a fantastic year at the Club and we hope you take a well-deserved break of the holiday period.

This Week @ LRC will be taking a bit of a break for a couple of weeks and will be back on the New Year.

See you in 2016!
