Anzac Day row

A list of all those who have replied to say they are keen to take part in the ANZAC morning service will be posted on the notice board at the top of the stairs. Matt and Steven will work out the crews this weekend as per Matt's detailed information kit previously emailed to everyone.
We need you to allow plenty of time to get to Glebe, so come to the shed earlier than required.

Final call out:If you are wanting to row or help out at this event, email Doreen.borg@cgu.com.au today.

Breakfast following the row

CGU Insurance has kindly offered to sponsor the ANZAC Day breakfast at LRC so the $10 charge for breakfast no longer applies.

Email secretary@lrc.com.au if you want to attend the Anzac Day breakfast and have NOT already registered your attendance on the survey form.

If you have some rosemary can you bring it to the club by Wednesday 22 April? Please leave it in the office.

Munching on ... Can the bakers in the Club cook ANZAC Biscuits for sustenance for the row back to the Club.

Here is a recipe:

Anzac Biscuits
Makes 24 Prep time 15 minutes Cooking time 20 minutes

1 cup (150g) plain flour
1 cup (80g) desiccated coconut
1 cup (90g) rolled oats
½ cup (110g) caster sugar
¼ cup (55g) brown sugar
125g butter
2 tbs golden syrup
½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 ½ tbs boiling water

Method
Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Line two baking trays with baking paper. Place the flour, coconut, rolled oats and combined sugar in a large bowl and stir with a wooden spoon to combine.
Place the butter and golden syrup in a small saucepan over low heat and cook, stirring occasionally7, for three minutes or until butter is melted.
Set aside for 5 minutes to cool slightly.
Combine 1 ½ tbs boiling water and the bicarbonate of soda in a small bowl. Add to the oat mixture along with the butter mixture. Stir until well combined.
Roll tablespoonfuls of the mixture into balls and place on the lined trays, allowing space for spreading. Gently press each ball to flatten slightly. Bake for 15 mins for crisp biscuits. Set aside on the trays to cool completely.
The biscuits will harden as they cool.

For soft chewy Anzac biscuits omit the brown sugar and increase the caster sugar to ¾ cup. Bake for 12 mins.
For a thin and crispy biscuit omit the caster sugar and increase the brown sugar to ¾ cup. Bake for 15 mins.

Drummoyne Masters Regatta this Sunday

Drummoyne are supplying some of their members to man our pontoon for this weekend's regatta. This is a requirement from us as it is their event, not ours.
This means they will come over to open the side gates early for all the visiting clubs, move the Pymble tinnies, marshal throughout the day, see the visiting clubs off, take responsibility for the park area, replace the tinnies and close the gates once everyone has left.
We have extended the courtesy of free coffee and tea to their helpers from our kitchen during the day. Please make their volunteers feel welcome.

Light Batteries Bin

It is good to see members using the facility. There is a new stock coming this weekend. The coins have been coming in as well. It was balancing well for a while, then dropped down, then went up again, then dropped. It is as if it is being used for someones bus fare. Please do not take money out of the bin. We need it to replace the batteries. If you owe the bin money please put it back.

Boat Christening

We will be christening five boats after the Drummoyne Regatta this Sunday. Everyone welcome.

Boats

Bohemia - Sweep riggers have now arrived.
Mick Lowrey Double/Pair - just delivered. Not to be used until after Christening.

Point Score

With 3 Masters events left in the season we have a lot of work to do to catch St George. They are about 120 points ahead due to good attendance at the Shoalhaven Regatta many months ago. With some good weather and racing we are still in with a chance. Good luck to all.

Entries for Iron Cove Masters now open

Prepare for the Tinny licence course

If you are coming to the tinny licence course on Wednesday 22 April, we suggest that you go to the Maritime website and practice the online knowledge test.
Here you can try out the sort of questions you will be asked on the night.
Good preparation and good way to learn the handbook.
