Yale Varsity Eight 1911 - better than the Mosman Rowers' Calendar

Captain's Log

Taree Regatta

Boat allocations are on the notice board. It’s going to be hot so bring a big hat, deck chair and sun cream. If you are there by lunch time on Friday drop down to assist putting up the tents.

This year we have 52 competitors entered.

Boat loading is today, Thursday, from 5pm. At least 50% of your crew needs to attend.
Remember that you have each been assigned a boat to “go over” before the regatta so make the time to check everything is ready to race.

Saturday Night Dinner in Taree

The Club has booked a function room at the Exchange Hotel in Taree for a Club Dinner on Saturday night – starting around 7pm.

This is an important Club function so all rowers, coaches and family members are expected to attend. The price is $30 per head for a 2 course meal.

Pay at the door.

Masters Rowers Meeting

All Masters Members of 27yrs age and above are advised that there will be a meeting for your group held as follows:

Women - Saturday 17th January at 9.30am (to about 10.30am)
Men - Sunday 18th January at 9.30am (to about 10.30am)

Rowers and coaches are requested to be present. We aim to have 4 coaches for the men and 4 for the women.

The purpose of these meetings are to:

• Form training squads for each gender based broadly around age and competency level

• Assign coaches to carry through the 2015 season.

Instead of having 4 entries in one age group we will be addressing all the Masters age category ranges.

At this early stage we look like forming A-C, D, E, F and G+ groups for each gender.

For Grade regattas we will be aiming at a spread to cover all events especially in the C and D level.

Crews will start to specialise in boat types, not do every race on the program. Our under 27 year olds will form the basis of our B grade entries.

Recreational Rowers may attend to observe but will not be able to participate in a group unless invited by the Captain and upgrade their membership.

See Captain for process – numbers are limited.
Please make an effort to attend.

Small Boats Regatta

Entries are due by 20th January for this regatta. Get them into your coordinator – Belinda (Senior women), Tim T (Senior Men), Simon (his squad) or Kerry (Juniors and Frank’s squad).
Do not contact Pravin directly. He and I review the entries in line with the Competition & Race Entry Policies after the coordinators have entered the proposals.
