Australian Masters Championships

In extremely tough conditions and even tougher competition, LRC rowers did very well at the Australian Masters Rowing Championships, held last week in South Australia. Congratulations to all who raced.

Bronze:
WG8+ - Anne Parbury and Angela Conry, in a composite with North Shore, Drummoyne, Lake Macquarie and Sydney Uni

The interstate teams with LRC representatives won a bronze in the men's 8+ (Dan O'Callaghan), a bronze in the women's 8+ (Daniela Borgert, Dianne Willians, Virginia Van Ewyk, Caroline Vernon and Chloe Congdon), and a silver in the 4x (Angela Conry).

Iron Cove Masters this Saturday - LRC hosts this regatta

  • No Juniors rowing
  • Members to help run BBQ and Cake Stall (yes, contributions for the stall are welcome)
  • Guy has a detailed roster for key roles

Tinnies

  • All outboard motors have been serviced this week
  • All lights work except for one pole light - needs a new globe
  • Bungs still being left out causing batteries to be submerged
  • Make sure batteries are connected to motor to keep them charged
  • Please put correct motor on tinny
  • Replace life jackets in kit bag and remove mess after use

State Masters regatta 17 and 18 May 2014

  • A draft list of entries is on the Competition Notice Board downstairs and on the board outside the office
  • Please check your entries and confirm if any problems to myself or your coach by Sunday 11th
  • Boat loading will be Friday 16th from 5am
  • There is no rowing for anyone on Friday 16th (more hands for boat loading)

Call out or DIE!

If a boat is coming up behind you what should you do, especially in the dark?

(a) move out of the way
(b) sit quietly and hope they will miss you
(c) call out to let them know you are there
(d) swear at them

If you answered (b) or (d) then you need help!

Batteries

  • Make sure your batteries are in good shape
  • With the heavy use over the past few weeks many are fading after half an hour

- Remember to get your applications in if you want a private rack for the 2015 season

Thursday 15 May - Wedding at the club

A wedding is being held at the club on Thursday 15 May. The club house will not be available from 10am. Reception is being held from 5pm.
Please lend a hand to help put the equipment away on Thursday morning.
